Each Lipidology skincare product is handmade in small batches in Ontario, Canada.
Our tallow is rendered from scratch using the slow and low rendering method. This is a lengthy process that takes several days. The tallow is then filtered several times over — pulling out the impurities while leaving the vitamins and nutrients intact, and keeping the natural odour of the fat to a minimum.
What that leaves is a mild, earthy, buttery scent. We’re honest about it: this is real rendered beef fat, not a fragrance-free lab formula, so it doesn’t smell like nothing. It smells faintly like butter, and once it’s on your skin it fades within a few minutes.
From start to finish, there is great care taken in every step of the tallow rendering process.
Our jars are washed and disinfected, and the lids are leak-proof.
Our tallow comes from select farmers in Ontario who produce ethically raised, grass fed bovine suet.
We recognize the importance of using high quality fat from healthy cows. An animal’s nutrients are stored in its fat so if the animal is eating a toxic diet, those same toxins end up in their fat. For these reasons, we use grass fed tallow.
