Lipidology is a family-run skincare company based in Toronto. We source beef suet directly from small Canadian farms — cattle raised on grass, without hormones or industrial feed. We know the farmers. We know the cows. We render and handcraft every product ourselves.
Our products are made from grass fed beef tallow. We render the suet ourselves and filter it slowly until it's scent-free. The supporting ingredients — oils, beeswax, essential oils — come from suppliers with fairtrade, or sustainability certifications, picked case by case rather than by a single label.
Lipidology skincare is formulated with simple, skin-friendly ingredients. Best sellers include face/body balms, soap and lip balm. Lipidology beef tallow is rich in naturally occurring fatty acids and vitamins A, B, D, E, and K — the kind of nourishment conventional moisturizers try to replicate in a lab. Every product is handcrafted from scratch in small batches in Toronto.
Background
Lipidology began in 2019 in a Toronto kitchen. We were looking for an alternative to conventional cosmetics for themselves. When we started reading about tallow, we kept running into the same problem: every tallow-skincare brand on the market was American.
So we started rendering our own. We went looking for small Canadian farms that raised cattle the way they'd want to feed their own family — on grass, without hormones, in operations small enough to verify practices themselves. Some of those farms are certified organic. Others are beyond-organic, regenerative, or hormone-free without a formal certification. We pick each supplier by what they actually do, not by whether they've paid for a label.
Today Lipidology ships across Canada and the US. Every batch is still made by hand, in small runs, from suet we've picked ourselves.
Mission, vision and values
Our mission is simple: make honest skincare from ingredients you can trace. We make products we'd use on our own family — from tallow rendered ourselves, beeswax, oils, and essential oils. Nothing synthetic, nothing we can't name, nothing we wouldn't put on ourselves.
