How Tallow Helps Babies Skin
When we first decided to start making tallow products, it was to address our personal skin needs.
Back in 2018 before tallow was a thing, I was on the hunt for alternative skincare that I wasn't finding anywhere here in Toronto.
The first product we made was a simple unscented tallow balm that had barely 2 ingredients, mostly made of fluffy nutrient rich tallow. Using this on my face and body addressed many issues I was struggling with including very dry, tight and flaky skin, clogged pores and some creases I wanted to smooth out. What I didn't realize is that this simple beauty balm would become a customer favourite, and it would be a favourite amongst mothers and their babies. This gave me a whole new appreciation for our craft. To know that the little ones are also benefitting from our products is such a win.
The baby product selection in our country (and many others) is abhorrent. It is obvious that many baby companies do not have the baby's interest in mind when formulating products and clearly have the incentive to push cheap products for profit. From baby formulas and snacks to shampoos and soaps, a newborn is unfortunately exposed immediately to an array of chemicals after its first breath.
But the companies are not the problem. The problem is misinformed parents who vote every day with their dollars.
I remember some of the products my mom used on us that were under the guise of being 'safe for baby' like shampoo and lotions which gave me rashes and skin issues. I wish I knew then wheat I know now.
One of my customers' baby had a rash on his little face and our Emu balm worked so quickly. Emu is a known anti inflammatory oil that is derived from the emu bird. Together with tallow, it is a potent yet gentle superfat that heals and seals the skin. We use natural ingredients and zero chemicals.
We make skincare with YOU in mind. Every product is used and tested on ourselves first.
Our mission is to spread the word and make high quality tallow products available to everyone. Perhaps the next generation will start right and pass that knowledge on until the Big Companies are no longer necessary.
